Droidcon UK - First Day
2011-10-06
Remember that mini series I have started some time ago? It will have to wait for another week because:
I am at DroidCon UK at the moment, and it has been an absolutely fantastic first day!
Commercial Version of JSXP
2011-09-29
JIOWA Business Solutions have just released a commercial version of JSXP called Jiowa Webview Technology (*). It is based on the original JSXP code, but Oliver cleaned it up and improved it a lot. Everybody in search of a web framework should check it out! They also provide support and consulting, so this should be especially interesting for companies doing web development.
(*) I already wrote here that I use my own, heavily modified version of JSXP for my projects. Anyway, what JIOWA did here is really cool! I hope I’ll get a chance to have a look at the framework soon.
Plans for gclimbing.com until December 2011
2011-09-23
Update: Revised plans for gclimbing.com, scribblingspree.com
Here is my plan for gclimbing for the rest of the year: In addition to some bug fixes and minor updates, I plan to roll out three new features before December 2011:
Re-writing JSXP for gclimbing.com (Side Projects)
2011-09-14
This article is part of the “Side Projects” mini-series.
Why did I rewrite JSXP for gclimbing? First because I thought it was dead. I did not know that Oliver was working on a major change too (he made a derivative web framework for commercial use out of JSXP). If I had known that we could have worked together on the update, but I didn’t.
A wicked problem with jQuery and Wicket
2011-09-07
Update: I finally solved the problem, so this article is obsolete. Read about the solution here:
Solved: jQuery AJAX and Wicket 1.5 custom component (panel)
The problem: I want to submit some data using the jQuery “ajax”-function to a wicket ajax behaviour.
Follow Up: Programmer != Software Developer
2011-08-30
My friend Badr Nazzal suggested that the Venn Diagram from Programmer != Software Developer should look like this:

What do you think? How should the diagram look like? Please leave a comment!
Constraints in my side projects
2011-08-28
This article is part of the “Side Projects” mini-series.
There are several constraints in these 2 projects. These constraints shape the way I work on the projects. I think it is quite helpful to have them in place - without them I would not have been able to come this far. The 3 most important are: Time, fun and money.
I will be attending Droidcon UK
2011-08-24
Between Oct. 5th and 9th I will be in London. I will attend DroidCon UK (on 6-7 Oct.). If you are there too just drop me a line - add a comment to this post or send me a tweet or email - then we can meet there.
Droidcon London: 6-7 Oct. 2011
2011-08-23
I just heard about the Droidcon London - I hope I can be there (*). The list of speakers looks very promising and the price is reasonable. Also, it would be great to talk with other Android developers (**). I never have been at an Android conference before.
(*) I’ll ask a friend if I can stay at his London apartment. A hotel would be too expensive for me at the moment. (**) Although I did not do much Android-development in the past few months I am still very interested in this topic.
